Zsófia and Lidoska met in 2008 while working in adjacent studios at the famed Flat Iron Arts Building in Wicker Park. The European artists had an instant connection having both relocated to the US from Hungary and Italy, respectively. They share a synergy to their artistic development that comes from their close friendship, existential journey and devotion to art.

Zsófia Ötvös will showcase her large-scale multimedia works. Her most prominent art pieces feature  powerful drawn figures executed with hard pencils. The needle-sharp points leave precise fine lines of intention and purpose, while the characters are placed on painted abstract settings. Zsófia’s art is powered by storytelling expressed through several mediums and formats. Her artistic expression, and manipulation of surfaces fuels the message as much as the imagery does. The artist will also feature several of her original illustrations created for Tzia Part One, The Book of Galatéa, an epic fairy tale adventure that seamlessly blends imagination and reality.

Lidoska Guietti’s  oil paintings are an ode to the evocation of nature. Her imaginary landscapes descend into the dreamlike, where archetypes and fantasy lead to a world where the improbable becomes possible. Each work stems from a deep personal and cultural dialogue that transforms itself into a rousing, expressive medium. Her art is a journey, in which spirituality manifests itself in all its tranquil strength. She eliminates every trace of excess to give more impact. The artist will exhibit her most recent work in small to large sizes.

Guest Artist Melissa Kolbusz is the founder of WIRED jewelry. She designs handmade, wearable artwork from reclaimed and surplus materials. Marrying aesthetics and environment, she salvages components such as rubber, alternator wire, tubing, and craft beer cans. One-of-a-kind and limited edition, these pieces are inspired by industrial wastelands, underwater creatures, and the Chicago music scene. Melissa is a bold proponent of sustainability and solutions through her designs.
